HAZELWOOD LOCAL

About the Campaign:

We teamed up with Street Plans to curate community programming for the Hazelwood neighborhood of Pittsburgh, PA as part of the winning brief for Hazelwood Green's Plaza. After meeting with countless neighborhood residents, community leaders, and city-wide organizations, we concluded that the success of the space as well as the overall project was dependent on authentic community interaction beyond events.

Because of this, we created the movement Hazelwood Local to serve as a hub for small business, culture, community and more--an online directory of the neighborhood so that newcomers can get better acquainted with its history and landscape, and that residents and businesses can have digital marketing aid.

Alongside this digital platform, we developed a year's worth of free and open to the public events that took place both on and off the Plaza for ultimate community interaction. From intimate meet-ups and live music concerts to outdoor movie nights and workshops, we focused on building a bridge between the kinds of events that residents wanted to experience more of, and happenings that citizens of other areas of Pittsburgh would be attracted to attend.

A seed planted in the hopes that the Hazelwood Green Plaza becomes a pivotal place of community not just for the neighborhood, but for the entire city--where everyone feels welcome.
