The Summer Concerts We’re Excited For

June 25, 2018admin

Summer is a time for exploring and celebrating freedom with friends. That exploring, though, can come in all forms. To us, discovering new (or old) music is the best kind of adventure and thankfully, summer comes with tons of chances for that. Whether it’s at one of the many music festivals creating serious FOMO around the country, or just concerts in a good old music hall, here are our favorite upcoming shows of the season:

GZA – July 7th

The Wu-Tang Clan mastermind is making his way back to Miami and it’s bound to be one of the rowdiest shows of the season. Pair that with happening in one of our city’s oldest and best dives and you’d be dumb not to get sweaty and rap every word.
Where: Churchill’s Pub. Tickets: Here.

Janelle Monae – July 27th

Easily one of the most creative and progressive female acts, Janelle Monae has made the music scene more vibrant with her outspoken and powerful messages. Her last release put female empowerment to the forefront, blended with catchy hip-hop and r&b riffs.
Where: The Fillmore Miami Beach. Tickets: Here.

Dave Matthews Band – July 28th

The jam-rock legends always put on a great party on over at the amphitheater. Whenever they come down to South Florida, the local fans make sure to bring the heat by packing the place and showing their love. It’s the perfect summer music with a cold beer in hand.
Where: Coral Sky Amphitheater. Tickets: Here.

Ms. Lauryn Hill – July 31st

Hip-hop royalty, Lauryn Hill’s voice has rang loud of decades in the music scene. The GRAMMY-winning artist is making her way down to Bayfront Park for a full tribute to her debut album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. Hear her earlier hits in person.
Where: Bayfront Park Amphitheater. Tickets: Here.

Bomba Estereo – August 11th

One of our favorite artists to hit the Latin music scene in recent years, Bomba Estereo made a splash with their electronic cross-over hit, “Fiesta.” They came to Miami to play III Points two years back and had everyone in awe. Don’t sleep on catching them live.
Where: The Fillmore Miami Beach. Tickets: Here.

Umphrey’s McGee – August 17th

Another big jam band coming to South Florida, Umphrey’s has mastered the art of building an epic show out of floating guitar riffs, unexpected covers, and a whole lot of lasers. You never know what to expect at an Umph show, whether it’s metal or funk, it’s always good.
Where: The Fillmore Miami Beach. Tickets: Here.

Father John Misty – Sept 28th

Okay so maybe this one isn’t exactly in the summer, per se. But it’s definitely a show we can’t wait to happen. The song-writer has become a big name in alternative Americana, where he frequently carries you to a different place in time with his brooding sound and airy production.
