5 Unexpected Favorites at The Raddest Craft Fair
July 29, 2016admin
Okay, we know. When you think of “crafts” you think of Etsy and hundreds of Pinterest boards about rustic-themed weddings. But who says getting creative has to be tied to a specific gender? Everyone is equally allowed to express themselves, whether it be through jewelry-making or hardcore carpentry (we know men and women who do both). That’s one of the reasons why we developed The Raddest Craft Fair. We wanted to create a welcoming atmosphere where everyone can get their hands dirty and be proud of what they’ve made, tuning the busy world and constant social media checking out, and learning from some of Miami’s most talented craft masters. On August 27th you’ll be surprised that there’s something in it for all walks of life, no matter the age, gender, or depth of wallet. RSVP here to snag your spots.
For the Guys.
Bros, this event isn’t about grudgingly following your girl while she makes flower crowns and dream catchers (which you could totally rock too, by the way). It’s all about roaming The Wynwood Yard and finding something that makes you proud of building with your own two hands. Half Moon Leather will be leading a business card holder workshop, and you can create some dope wood creations at Method 2 Madness. Nadia Payan’s mixed media workshop is an open ocean for expression, and why not paint some of your favorite vinyl with Little Creative Souls?
For the Adults.
Not feeling the whole “creative” thing? No worries, we don’t discriminate. That’s one of the most beautiful (and refreshing) things about The Wynwood Yard. First and foremost, their selection of local craft brews is on point, and Concrete Beach Brewery is backing the whole event so there’s that. Looking for something stronger to wash down those creative juices? Mortar & Pistil has quite the succulent selection of punches and fruity cocktails for you to indulge in.
For the Kids.
Although we’ve moved the event to a later time, it’s more for our sweat glands than it is about our party abilities. Which means that, yes, the event is for all ages and your little friends will have an equally awesome time while you sip on that craft beer. Little Creative Souls will be curating a kid’s corner for the budding artist, The Wolfsonian-FIU will showing us how to make paper plant holders, and of course, who doesn’t like making flower crowns? Ever After will be there making your fairytale princess dreams come true.
For the Observers.
And what about those of you who may not be down with being an artist or wetting your whistle? Even though we may not understand why you even bothered to leave the house, it’s okay! We have stuff for you too. First, there’s live tunes by tow South Florida singer-songwriters: Shira Abergel with her bluesy-folky-country sounds, and an opening set by the charming Carly Jo Jackson. And then there’s all the food options surrounding you at The Yard, plus the community garden and the dog-friendly vibes. No excuses.
For the Savers.
We know that when you hear “handmade” you think the price sky-rockets. Although the value of the piece increases, that doesn’t mean we haven’t thought about those creatives looking for inspiration on a dime. Well there’s the free wood painting by Method 2 Madness and the free paper plants by The Wolfsonian-FIU. Plus, the body scrubs by Hype Girls, friendship bracelets by M-16, and mixed media workshops by Nadia Payan are all $10. Again, no excuses.
If that’s not enough for ya, there’s dream catchers by Soul Karavan, Yerbamala Designs macrame, terrerium magnets by The Tipsy Gardener, key chains by HEIST, Nomad Tribe leading a Japanese tie-dye workshop, make your own jewelry with Carla Merino, and learn to upcycle household items into succulent holders with LaSucculenta.
