Can you believe July is already nearing its end? You can sense the dwindling vacation and the return of hectic morning traffic on the horizon, but let’s not jump ahead of ourselves. We still have nearly a month and a half of summer left, which means ample time to get out and discover the cultural buffet our city has to offer. The heat isn’t taking a break, so neither should you. Saturday, July 16th:

HistoryMiami: Opening DayCome get your game on as HistoryMiami Museum opens their newest exhibition, “Beyond the Game: Sports and the Evolution of South Florida.” The entire community is invited to this opening day party. Roam through historical monuments of each of South Florida’s sports franchises and their respective legacies, plus stories, crafts and games galore. Even DJ Le Spam will be there.

Melochromania: One Year Anniversary FestivalMelochromania, Miami’s Psych-Rock underground live music series, is throwing a 1 year anniversary festival with South Florida’s top psychedelic and garage rock bands on July 16th. As a thank you to those who’ve supported us along the way and to all music-lovers of this city, we’re celebrating with a full day of live music, liquid light shows, vinyl-spinning DJs, and activities.

Havana Nights at Ludlam Trail – Miami’s longest public bike routes along nature opens up this weekend to celebrate all things Cuba. We’re talking Caja China Pig Roast, Domino Tournament, Mojito and Beer Bar, Cigar Roller, Salsa Band and Instructors, Face Painting, Bounce Houses, and of course…the bike trail itself.

Sunday, July 17th:

Yoga & Mimosa SundayEnjoy a rejuvenating and energizing yoga flow guided by Hilary Packin followed by coconut water to rehydrate and a meet & greet.  Mimosa Bar stocked with champagne, freshly squeezed juices & fruit – all served in Mason Jars (fun straws included)! More treats provided. This event is meant to help you destress, have fun, and meet others from our community! This is a monthly rotating event.

Monday, July 18th:

Style Mafia Resort 16 Presentation – Miami’s own Style Mafia will be presenting their collection during Swim Week and the impending Agenda Show Miami. In collaboration with Rare Atlantic, take a look at what’s to come at the Coast Fashion Trade Exhibition all taking place at one of the most awe-inspiring places in the city.

Tuesday, July 19th:

Jupiter Circle Social Media WorkshopJoin Gaby Guzman of The Jupiter Circle and Natalia Martinez of CIC Miami to learn the valuable lessons that will help you establish your social media presence and the audience you are looking for. Full Moon Drum CircleEvery month there is a Full Moon Drum Circle event done at the North Shore Open Space Park. July is the month of the Full Buck Moon. Bucks begin to grow new antlers at this time. This Full Moon was also known as the Thunder Moon because thunderstorms are so frequent during this month. Bring your gypsy skirts, your hip scarves, your veils, your drums, your tambourines and anything you need to dance the night away. Also bring a blanket or towel as it’s right on the beach.

Thursday, July 21st:

EXILE presents Steadfast Magazine at The StandardCelebrate the latest issue of Steadfast Magazine, The Neo Romanticism issue. Issue No. 2 carries the essence of a cherished love letter engraved in the longing hearts of an intimate few. This edition features over 20 carefully curated artists who represented the Neo-Romantic movement through their artistic observations and vision. With two successful issues in print and a steadily growing digital presence, they are devoted to the passion behind fine art and the artists themselves.

Saturday, July 23rd:

Taste of Little Haiti: Culture WalkTaste your way through the heart of Little Haiti with a guided tour led by a HistoryMiami guide. Savor conch fritters with pikliz, a spicy cabbage relish, freshly made Haitian pastries and the popular candy tablet pistach, the Haitian version of peanut brittle. Stop at Libreri Mapou bookstore and taste Kremas Mapou, a rum drink, while hearing stories about the Haitian diaspora experience in Miami.  Visit the Little Haiti Cultural Center’s art galleries, shop at the Caribbean Marketplace and enjoy the rhythm and aromas from this vibrant community. ICA Residents: Miami Music ClubFor its inaugural ICA Residents program, ICA Miami welcomes Miami Music Club who will explore the porous boundary between rhythm and its dissolution. ICA Miami presents a series of summertime concerts conceptualized and curated by Miami Music Club, featuring experimental musical artists working outside Florida and paired with local acts of similar tendencies or mindsets. Sponsored by Tito’s Vodka.

Sunday, July 24th:

Pineapple Sunday – One of our favorite Sunday jams at one of our favorite local spots. If you want to check out how good our city has it with music, this is a can’t-miss. Live music lineup includes: Headless Tomz Featuring Matt Schofield, Electric Kif, Oigo, Magic City Hippies, Lemon City Trio, Vlade Divak and a Set by DJ Le Spam. Plus, Happy Hour from 4-7PM means 2-for-1 drinks.

Miami Girls Rock Camp Grand Finale2016 Finale Showcase for Miami Girls Rock Camp, a volunteer-run summer camp that uses music and performance to empower young girls and women ages 8-17 in the Miami area. The Awesome Foundation grant will showcase all eight 2016 camper bands performing original songs written during camp week. Local youth act FFK8, and noise-rock staples, Haochiwill close out the show. Wednesday, July 27th:

Words and Wine – Miami’s legendary music venue brings together a night filled with local sounds. Open Mic, Drum Circle, Live Music by Sofilla, Spoken Word all Hosted by Rio Dios Mio & Michelangelo Chavarro. All drummers, acoustic musicians, hoopers, dancers, jugglers, and freaks of all kind invited!

The Road to AfroRoots4th Wednesdays is Food Truck & Music Fest in North Beach. Are you ready for a musical trip to Rio de Janeiro? Grupo Matriz is a Miami-based Brazilian group that plays samba, pagode, and batucada. With their highly percussive formation, Grupo Matriz brings a modern take to the authentic and contagious rhythms of Brazil’s classic rhythm of the street. Plus, get your grub on with the multiple food trucks.

Thursday, July 28th:

Tropical BBQSpend the evening supporting local talent with live jams by city-favorites, Magic City Hippies with an opening set by Sigh Kicks. Enjoy a tropical-themed menu by Miami Smokers, Miami-inspired Dim Sum from the Sarsparilla VW van, handmade treats by Wynwood Parlor and paletas by Lollifruit. Get your hands on some handmade refreshments by Mac’s Pubs while you snag some tropical-themed goods like pins, hats, shades, and more. Plus, the Vice City Bean Tricycle will be there slangin’ cold brew.

Saturday, July 30th:

Whirl: a Twilight Performance – Come experience a special twilight performance at Vizcaya. Visit the landmark after dark for an immersive performance experience by Processional Arts Workshop (PAW). Inspired by the works of American muralist Robert Winthrop Chanler, PAW artists will work with members of the local Miami community to create illuminated structures, mimicking the fantastical seascapes of Chanler’s work, which will be brought to life as a wandering menagerie that traverses Vizcaya’s Main House and gardens.
