Orlando – A Live Album

June 27, 2016admin

In the wake of a dark time, getting drawn into a pattern of negative thinking can be compared to building a prison in your own mind. It holds you hostage and it’s hard to break free. Yet, in moments where we find tragedy and atrocious acts toward humanity, we find ways to shine a light on the positive things in life; bringing us together under a realm of inner peace, openness, and awareness of each other.

Behind the indie-soul, poetically symbolic lyrics, and acoustics lies musician and powerhouse Emily Kopp, an Orlando-bred artist who’s been using her music as a mechanism towards philanthropy and change. Beginning her work in the music world as someone behind the scenes to channeling the proceeds of her single “Chasing Streetlights” via Cadence and Cause (a digital platform which helps musicians sell their music towards a charitable cause around the world) truly paves out her beautiful path of artistry.

Alongside her band, the long time Florida based singer put on one of the most memorable acts on October 23rd, 2016 as they recorded a live album; paying homage to the city who’s helped her blossom into the artist she is today. Between every note sung and every beginning rhythm being strung on the guitar, there is a space where Kopp continues to intertwine the connecting elements that animate her on stage and make her music come to life. The captivating performance charmed the audience with a 60 minute set and three song encore; rocking through an abundance of new material from Kopp’s latest EP Making Sense Of while also shedding light on older favorites such as “When We Fight” and “Potential”.

The same city that tested, enlightened, humbled, and made Emily Kopp into the person she is today faced a horrific tragedy on June 12th, 2016. Orlando and the LGBTQ community were hit with the deadliest mass shooting in American history, where a gunman unleashed hatred inside of Pulse nightclub, killing 49 people and leaving over 50 injured. In light of this recent tragedy, Emily has decided to release her live recorded album as a tribute to the city of Orlando and to the victims affected by this shocking event.

“Orlando, A Live Album”, will be released on July 29th and act as a permanent fundraiser, with 100% of sales proceeds going towards the GLBT Community Center of Central Florida, aiding the victims, and the rest of the LGBTQ community for years to come.
