Our Go-To Miami Guide to Day Drinking With Friends

June 14, 2018admin

Day drinking isn’t actually about getting tipsy or trying obscure beers, it’s about the environment. The happy, conversational, sometimes loud, but always chill feeling of being in great company on a sunny day. Given Miami’s weather and general love for having a good time, it’s packed with great options for sipping the day away. We’re not just talking about the classic Monty’s hang or the usual lengthy brunch. If you’re a craft cocktail person or a draft beer kind of guy, here are out go-to favorite spots for hanging with friends:

Gramps

Great Wynwood location, colorful atmosphere, top notch music choices day or night. Their cocktails are delicious and they always have something fun going on. From crate digging and flea markets to drag nights and cover bands, Gramps is a perfect spot.
What to get: The Rosemary’s Baby and a slice of Pizza Tropical out back.

Casa Florida

In case you haven’t yet heard of this Miami River gem, Casa Florida is absolutely stunning. Vintage buses transformed into lounges, historic wooden houses, palm trees everywhere. It really is so the vibe. Their drinks are delicious, but it’s the low-key atmosphere that’s unparalleled.
What to get: Take a risk with their creative cocktails.

The Corner

Okay, we know The Corner is a go-to late night joint, but did you know it boasts some of the best happy hour deals in the city? And their food menu is insanely good. We like blowing people’s minds by bringing them here during the day…and maybe coming back at night.
What to get: One of their many obscure bottled beers and a grilled cheese.

The Wynwood Yard

Hot on the heels of winning Miami New Times’ “Best Venue for Local Acts” The Yard has been a favorite of ours since it opened nearly 3 years ago. Solid on all accounts, their beer selection, drinks, and epic food choices make its garden atmosphere a perfect day drinking spot.
What to get: The daily punch and World Famous House of Mac.

Shuckers

It’s the mecca for outdoor sports watching and drinking along the bay. Not only does Shuckers come with a stunning water view and deck, but their oyster and pitcher deals are on point. It’s the perfect balance between rowdy boater bar and low-key grill.
What to get: A pitcher of beer and a dozen grilled wings.

The Standard

Another beautiful bayview, sunset option, but this time on Sunset Harbor. The retro hotel and spa has a swanky lobby bar, but it’s the poolside drinking locals flock for at Lido. Honestly the best sunset happy hour in the city that’ll make you feel bougie AF.
What to get: A $7 happy hour frosé and artichoke frites.

All of the Wynwood Breweries

Because we can’t choose just one. They all have their own best characteristics. Veza Sur was truly built for the day drinking, though, with its cool outdoor lounge and board games. Hit up J Wakefield for a pop culture dose, Concrete Beach‘s beautiful patio, and Wynwood Brewing for the OG goodness.
What to get: Beer, duh.

The Broken Shaker

We can’t have a day drinking round up without the most well-known of all. “The Shaker” as locals call it, is an essential stop on any daytime hang with friends. Not only is the atmosphere charming and chill, but their drinks are bar-none. When open, head upstairs at 27 Restaurant for equally great times.
What to get: Have a big crew? Split a punch bowl. You can’t go wrong.
