Weekly Three: Our Top Music Picks
February 5, 2018
If you’re needing some fresh music and tunes, we’ve got you covered. Check out this week’s top 3 artists on the rise to add onto your list.
Orlando-based R&B singer DVWEZ (pronounced DAMES) is a star on the rise. With her soft, electronic R&B style, she takes listeners through a dreamlike landscape. Paired with her eloquent lyrics, she provides an impressive level of depth and emotion. Her latest EP Paradise is out now and after making her way around around the country, she’ll be making her debut at this year’s SXSW.
Brent Cowles is known for playing a unique hybrid of music from blues to punk. He has been developing since his start in high-energy rock ’n’ roll. From Denver and originally part of the band You, Me & Apollo, Cowles embarked on a solo journey, which has gotten him named as one of NPR’s 2018 Slingshot Artists and is set to release a fulll-length album this year.
At only 20 years old, U.K. artist Jade Bird has schooled herself in American sound and music. Working closely to craft her sound, the young artist released her first EP Something American (fitting for the artist training herself in Americana and country blues) which was met with acclaim and she was named one of Rolling Stone’s 10 New Country Artists You Need To Know. She is set to release a second album this year, releasing the first single “Lottery” last month, as well heading out on tour and will no doubt be at some of the biggest music festivals.
