Ancient oaks, coral facades, century-old Mediterranean architecture, all of these gorgeous accents are what are most commonly attributed to Coral Gables. Although we all know The City Beautiful to be one of the oldest communities in Miami-Dade, it has quite a lot going for it in the modern era of today. Around the Downtown area you can find a great variety of local shops, bars and eateries, and brand-new concepts for everyone. As your friendly neighborhood Culture Crusaders, we explored the historical area and found some great new treasures to put on your radar:

5411 Empanadas
Eight years ago, the team behind 5411 Empanadas were looking to bring the delicious flavors of the Argentinean culture to Chicago and started with a food truck. After becoming one of the most successful meals on wheels in the country, they expanded to multiple permanent locations including Coral Gables. Authentic and freshly-baked empanadas are their specialty, so check them out on Miracle Mile and at Soul on The Mile.

One of the newest to join the fashion fleet is Pool LabShow, a new outlet for many of the most current designer pieces from all over Europe and the world. The showroom is a beautiful place to get inspired, seeing the season’s latest trends right at your fingertips.

Lorenzos Pizzas
One of the newest outposts along Restaurant Row or known to everyone now as Giralda Plaza, this is one delicious pizza spot. Although it’s hard to make a bad pizza, Lorenzos Pizza definitely have it right. Not only are their slices oozing with flavor and fresh ingredients, but their atmosphere will keep you long after the pie is gone. It’s brand spanking new so we urge you to get there before the hype gets real.

18|8 Fine Men’s Salon
Alright, this one’s really for the gentlemen looking to take a rest from all the eating, shopping, and sight-seeing in the neighborhood. Because guys need to treat themselves, too. 18|8 is not your modern barbershop either, offering everything from private grooming stations, massage chairs, and a welcoming staff that greets you upon entry. It’s sleek and modern, yet everything you want to trust in a neighborhood barber.

WaterBiking Studio
Over the past few years, Coral Gables has also stepped up its athletic game, with tons of new gyms and workout studios opening up around the Downtown area. You can find everything from OrangeTheory, yoga to Crossfit and everything in between. The City Beautiful has also just got its first WaterBiking Studio, which is just as fun as it is challenging. Think aqua spinning with pilates core exercises blended in. Perfect for a morning sweat or dip.

Plume Home Decor
Many generations have made their home in The City Beautiful, happily settling in the sprawling green streets and charming neighborhoods. So it only makes sense that the retail concepts peppering Downtown Coral Gables reflect what their residents would need. Take for example, Plume Home Decor, which is one of the newer stores to open in the area and offers a vibrant selection of interior design items that would fit beautifully in any home.

PizzaRev
We dearly believe that every list should end with something delicious which is where PizzaRev comes in. Another franchise on Miracle Mile, it feels right at home along the bustling shopping avenue in the heart of Coral Gables. What’s different about this pizza spot? It’s a fast-casual concept with everyone’s favorite Italian dish at the center. You can create your own pie, watch it bubble in the oven, and munch in 15 minutes flat.
