24-Hours in Miami by Isabella Acker
April 19, 2017
As our city continues to grow, there are so many great local spots rising up that it’s becoming so hard to keep track. For self-proclaimed Culture Crusaders like ourselves, we’re constantly on the look out for the Miami treasures that can’t be missed by both residents and tourists alike. If you had 24 hours in this city, where would you go to get the “real” Miami experience? Where would you tell a friend to go? Get into the groove with Isabella Acker, our Curator of Culture, and see where she would take you:
“Go straight from baggage claim to The Standard Spa for a sunset cocktail and then head on over to the MiMo District for one of my favorite Greek joints, Bar Meli’s Greek Bistro & Wine Bar. They usually have live music on the weekends and some crowd favorite dishes like pulpo, mediterranean dips, and flatbread. Walk off the deliciousness for a nightcap and boogie at The Anderson.”
“Rise ‘n’ shine for morning yoga at Tropical Vinyasa, refresh at Under the Mango Tree with a mind-blowing acai bowl, and a paddle board session at Oleta State Park. After a nap, make your way to the PAMM for a dose of culture, snag a memento from their epic gift shop, and then grab a beer from Verde and watch the vibrant sunset over our skyline. End the night in Little Havana with dinner at Lung Yai Thai Tapas and live music at the historic Ball & Chain before catching your red eye.”
If you get a chance, be sure to take a dive into SFL’s amazing live music scene. Feed your soul with powerhouse Yoli Mayor, get the authentic Miami experience with Afro-Cuban Funk band PALO!, or hear some of my favorite folky singer-songwriters like Keith Johns or Ella Herrera.
