Raquel Sofia “Ron de Azúcar”
April 6, 2017
Raquel Sofia, one of Miami’s most prominent modern Latin artists and overall badass lady, has just released her latest single, “Ron De Azúcar.” Having previously performed backing vocals for Juanes as well as Shakira, she has definitely not shied away from the Latin music scene when it came to creating her own music and showcasing her own style.
As a Puerto Rican, her Hispanic roots definitely show through in the song, not just because of the obvious Spanish lyrics, but because of the tinges of Spanish guitar and rhythms that you hear throughout the track. Her voice, overall, is so powerful and is so unique that hearing it when she sings the chorus shows the passion and emotion in the song. The different layers of instruments and vocals encapsulate an exciting and vibrant song that even though you might not understand what she says, you instantly feel it.
You can catch Raquel at the Queen of Hearts presented by Hennessy and Veuve Clicquot at The Wynwood Yard on April 19th that will celebrate some badass women in music where she will be joined by some incredibly talented ladies, such as fellow local favorite Yoli Mayor. Free with RSVP here.
