Prism’s January Events
January 2, 2017
Two days into the new year and we’re already excited for all the incredible things to come and the inspiring initiatives that will change Miami’s landscape as we know it. Our city’s evolving into something pretty great and these upcoming happenings are just a small part of the movement. This month, we’re all over the city, producing and getting the word out on some amazing events, so check out where we’ll be:
Thursday, January 5th:
We kick the year off on a musical note with the crowd-favorite, Rooftop Unplugged Sessions in the A+E District. The first pool deck show of the year features the beloved Fort Lauderdale indie rock outfit, Kids, who are long-time friends of the neighborhood. There’ll be drinks, handmade ice cream sammies by Wynwood Parlor, and pretty much the best Thursday night vibes in the city. RSVP here and make sure to arrive early.
Friday, January 6th:
Get ready to get social this month as the highly-anticipated Biscayne Green pop-up park promenade finally hits Downtown Miami! The Biscayne Green Grand Opening is going to be a game-changer for this city. The three weeks worth of programming kicks off with live performances by local favorites like Locos Por Juana, Elastic Bond, and Cortadito. There’ll be grub by Coyo Taco, Lulu’s Nitrogen Ice Cream and handmade drinks by Mac’s Pubs. Plus, a caravan on local maker pop-ups from handmade jewelry to prints, thrift stores, and even a gift shop pop-up by the PAMM. RSVP here.
Sunday, January 8th:
Rounding out the killer Biscayne Green opening weekend is Miami’s first-ever Puppy Brunch and yes, it’ll be as cute as it sounds. This Sunday, January 8th, bring your furry friends over to Biscayne Boulevard so they can partake in everyone’s favorite weekend feast. We got some delicious brunch grub for the puppies by Dishes for Dogs, dog swag, pet grooming, and even a puppy photo booth! Of course, the humans can partake as well with brunch specialties by local favorites like della Test Kitchen, Threefold Cafe, Pinch Kitchen and more. Plus live tunes by Magic City Hippies and a DJ set by Miami’s own, Patrick Walsh.
Saturday, January 14th:
If you think that’s all we got happening at Biscayne Green, think again. Among the live concert series and outdoor dance classes, next Saturday, January 14th is dedicated to all the Downtown killer restaurants for their first-ever food festival: Taste of Downtown. Enjoy the flavors of hotspots like Manna Life Food, Toro Toro, The River Oyster, Biscayne Tavern, Sparky’s Roadside BBQ, and more! Plus live tunes by local bands like Brendan O’Hara and Alejandro Elizondo. RSVP Here.
Sunday, January 15th:
The weekend doesn’t stop there. The following Sunday on January 15th, is jam-packed with two Prism-backed events. First, enjoy 2017’s Miami Flea kick-off which will be A+E’s biggest yet! There’ll be more new vendors than ever before and all you’re market favorites. Plus, local eateries, live music, and the kind of Sunday vibes we all love. Then, continue your Sunday with a ground-breaking Nu Deco show at New World Center featuring a world-premiere performance of their Frank Zappa renditions. After three nights of sold out shows in December, this one can’t be missed. Snag your tickets here.
Saturday, January 21st:
Miami’s swankiest bayside hang, The Standard Spa is pitching its trademark yellow and white umbrellas at Biscayne Green for one day only on Saturday, January 21st! The pop-up is the perfect solution to escape and experience Miami’s favorite hideaway destination. In between the yoga, meditation, and music, enjoy backyard games like corn hole and ping-pong, sun-kissed food from The Lido Bayside Grill, and most importantly, frosé on tap. If you didn’t know what The Standard was before this weekend, you will now. RSVP here.
Thursday, January 26th:
All good things have to come to an end, and although it hasn’t even started yet, Biscayne Green’s Last Hoorah will wave goodbye on Thursday, January 26th. Take a look back on all the incredible happenings that went down on the pop-up promenade like live music featuring PALO! and Patrick & The Swayzees, the greatest grub in the city like Biscayne Tavern, Pinch Kitchen, Box of Chacos and handmade drinks by Mac’s Pubs. Make sure to RSVP here.
Saturday, January 28th:
Finally, we round out the marathon of a month with a digital landmark: THX Co.‘s Kickstarter finale. In case you didn’t know, Miami’s first social enterprise has been selflessly working in the shadows in order to change consumerism and the way we all feel about philanthropy. Their high-quality products like 100% soy wax candles hand-poured by young adults with special needs, fair trade coffee, or environmentally-conscious soaps are all at the same level of the products you’re already used to splurging for at Whole Foods, so why not help them on their mission and carve your name into the movement? On January 28th, they end their 45-day Kickstarter campaign that’ll help them in their new phase of incorporating over 1.8 million non-profits and even more products. Find out more here.
