December Events: Where We’ll Be

Let’s be real, December in Miami is so much more than Art Basel or Miami Art Week. Aside from slightly less-humid weather, our city is still filled with some of the best community happenings and as always, we’re grateful to be thrown into the mix. Prism is dedicated to making quality of life more vibrant for locals by partnering with institutions, favorite spots, and neighborhoods to bring you the best of the best of Miami culture. Check out where we’ll be this month:
Thursday, December 8th:
Nu Deco Season 2 Concert 2 – Experience the music of Bernstein, Jorge Mejia, Bryce Dessner, a new work by Sam Hyken based on the music of Kraftwerk (with 3D Visuals by Mauricio Ceppi), as well as the world premiere of composer Ricardo Romaneiro’s “TRANS”, an electro-acoustic work composed for Nu Deco Ensemble that weaves the listener through layers of pulsating grooves and radiant harmonies drawn from inspirations of the transit system of Miami. Plus, a special performance by violin virtuoso Kishi Bashi.

Friday, December 9th:
Public Transit Day Elected leaders and engaged locals will be showing their commitment to strengthening our public transit system in by getting on board on #PublicTransitDay. Folks across Miami were so inspired by the idea behind #PublicTransitDay, they’ve joined in to host an insane array of pop-ups, music events, and other surprises at transit stations and citywide attractions all over town. All you need to do is take a picture ON TRANSIT that day and use the hashtag #PublicTransitDay to share with the world. Show your picture at any of these fun activations and participating locations for a sweet treat or two for taking the pledge! Meet us for Lunch at The Underline, a very special picnic occasion at Brickell Station.

Saturday, December 10th:
The Raddest Craft Fair: Holiday Edition – Spend a breezy Saturday awakening your inner child with a complete lineup of innovative and hands-on workshops that will bring out the budding creator inside of you. We’ll be bringing every type of craft under the sun from watercolor, to calligraphy, macrame and more. Plus, enjoy live music by charming local songwriters like The Good Nites and Alex Di Leo Music. As you wait for your crafts to dry and harden, lounge the day away with live tunes, grub from the on-site pop-ups and delicious drinks by The Bar at The Yard.

Wednesday, December 14th:
Live at Canvas ft. Monsieur Periné – A+E’s keeping the jams going late into the year as we unveil their latest concert series spotlighting the sounds of some of the world’s most infectious rhythms. Transport yourself to every corner of the world with international jams right in their backyard. For the first concert, they’re welcoming the Latin GRAMMY-winning Monsieur Periné all the way from Bogota! Plus, A+E family, Elastic Bond with a Latin Psychedelic Funk opening set. Bask in the music with authentic cuisine by local heavy-hitters and Acme Lounge. Plus, delicious drinks as always.

Sunday, December 18th:
The Miami Flea – The very last Miami Flea of 2016 is coming up and believe us, you don’t want to miss it! A+E broke their record with over 100 vendors, so let’s raise the bar even higher going into the new year. Every week, they’ll be making extra special announcements to make sure to follow along. Swing by and enjoy the local community with pop-ups galore. Ride your bike or take transit, and make sure to stop by the kid’s corner by Little Creative Souls for some creative crafts, and face painting.
They’ll have workshops, holiday-themed gifts, a gift-wrapping station, and even egg nog. Check out the amazing creations by local artisans, adopt a puppy, or get your hands henna-fied. There will be vintage treasures, vinyl, and more thrift finds that ever before.

Wednesday, December 28th:
Live in the Garden ft Jacob Jeffries – Escape the bustle and transport yourself to the twinkling times of yesteryear at your new favorite hidden gem: Mina’s Mediterraneo. Join us as the garden comes alive to the sounds of local artists and musicians. After a great jam last month, we’re happy to welcome back to Miami an all-time local favorite, Jacob Jeffries! Come by for that kind of wine-filled Wednesday we all want under the stars, for their last one of the year. Sip on vino specials and unlock secret menu items just for the Live in the Garden nights only. Tell your friends, they’ll want to know what you’re up to.
