Sounds from the Underground
September 28, 2016admin
A lot of people talk about how Miami has a small selection of where to see live music on the nightly. After several beloved venues closed their doors in recent days, after local artists felt placeless in the city, creative entities have taken it upon themselves to use Miami’s open and unconventional spaces to house the artistic community. Which is why we can’t wait for tomorrow’s Sounds from the Underground celebration. It’s a secret party. All of Miami’s creative community is invited and so are you.
To celebrate Transit Loves the Arts and the Miami’s Never Moved Like This initiative, yours truly and The New Tropic have teamed up with Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works to bring you the city’s greatest concert you won’t want to miss. To really tip our hat off to Miami’s history of musical awesomeness, we’ve chosen to host the event at the underpass by what was once The Stage for the ultimate homage to the city’s music scene. But we’ll be transforming the parking lot into a concert venue with a full stage, picnic tables, string lights, floral centerpieces, fun pop-ups and more. Pretty amazing, if you ask us.
You’ll jam to the world sounds of Locos Por Juana for a show-stopping party. Take in a Afro-Funky opening set by Xperimento and let the live music make you sway. The scene will be flanked by the grub of local eateries like Box of Chacos and Morgan’s Woodfire Pizza Truck, handmade ice cream sammies by Wynwood Parlor, plus sip on craft cocktails and local beers by Mac’s Pubs. What’s even more special is that this will be the first time we unveil the winning designs of the Transit Loves the Arts bus-wrapping competition! 5 local artists have been chosen to fully cover buses around the city for the ultimate mobile gallery and they’ll be on-site showing off their designs.
Make sure to download the MDT Transit Tracker App and find out how easy it is to get there by using transit (and also hassle free), but first thing you should do is RSVP. See you there!
