April Events: Where to Find Us
March 29, 2016admin
To us, this great city is like a blank canvas where we can splatter our creative juice anywhere we can. Instead of paint, we’re helping spread community, blending it in with the cultural pillars that keep us passionate: music, art, film, etc. The end result is a slew of events and happenings, each chiseled with the tools of love that make us quite proficient in bringing people together…if we do say so ourselves.
Every month, our weeks are filled to the brim with events that we’ve either conceptualized and brought to life, or we’ve joined the team for, helping spread the word throughout the city. People always ask us where we’re at week after week, so take a look at our April calendar across Miami:
Sunday, April 3rd: The Ultimate Brunch – Set in the halls of what will become Miami’s first food hall concept, The Ultimate Brunch is a labor of love from a big group of foodies. It will be the first entirely brunch-centric food festival featuring the creations of popular restaurants like Morgan’s, Threefold Café, Pinch Kitchen and more, plus fresh coffee and family-style cocktails. Like most of our events, there will be live music by Patrick & The Swayzees and Magic City Hippies, and DJ sets by Patrick Walsh and Legs Benedict. Tons of family-friendly and dog-friendly activations will fill the Little River creative hub for one great Sunday.
Where: The Citadel – 8330 NE 2nd Ave. Time: 10am – 3pm. RSVP: Do it here.
Wednesday, April 6th: Miami Soul Train – Perhaps our wildest event in the books, Miami Soul Train is back for its third run in the A+E District. We’ll be starting at the new lot on 14th ST, turning on the wireless LED headphones, heading to Schoolboard Station and jamming as a silent disco on the metromover for a fun and excitement transit experience. Although there are only 200 headphones available and access to the train ride is not guaranteed, we’ll still have a DJ bumping tunes, food trucks, and a bar happening at home base so everyone can have their fun. Make sure to arrive early as headphones are first come first serve.
Where: 1440 N Miami Ave. Time: 7pm – 11pm. RSVP: Do it here.
Thursday, April 14th: Movies Under the Stars – The A+E District collaboration with Miami International Film Festival is back with our next installment of Movies Under the Stars at our new location! Enjoy a free screening of The Strongest Man made by an entirely local team, set in Miami. The comedy follows a local Cuban man on his adventurous quest to recover his most prized possession: his golden BMX bicycle. Grab bites by Gaucho Ranch and gourmet popcorn by Mad Chiller. Sip on Vice City Bean coffee and a beer and wine bar. Bring friends, family, & lawn chairs. Please arrive early as chairs are first come first serve.
Where: 1440 N Miami Ave. Time: 7pm – 10pm. RSVP: Do it here.
Thursday, April 21st: Rooftop Unplugged Sessions – The crowd-favorite Rooftop Unplugged Sessions are back with our third installment of the year, our biggest yet. Swing by The Filling Station Lofts pool deck for an awe-inspiring view of the A+E District while we are dazed as the Latin GRAMMY-nominated, Raquel Sofia takes the stage for a live performance you won’t want to miss. Enjoy hand-crafted sips to wash down the city’s magic. Be sure to RSVP as it will be strictly enforced due to capacity.
Where: The Filling Station Lofts – 1657 N Miami Ave. Time: 7pm – 9pm. RSVP: Do it here.
Sunday, April 24th: The Miami Flea – Little did we know how much the city was longing for a Sunday market, more than your traditional flea, but filled with the local love that the bazaar-style set up was founded on. Once again, the tree-lined lot will be with over 70 artisans, treasure hunters, and hands-on creators, plus live music from an eclectic lineup of local musicians, and a stacked Grub Garden filled with the culinary creations of the best Miami outposts like Coyo Taco, Miami Smokers, Morgan’s and more. There will be chill nests, a bike valet, a Junior & Hatter salon pop-up, a Little Creative Souls kid’s corner, puppy adoption and so much more. Bring your friends and family and experience great vibes at their most authentic.
Where: 1440 N Miami Ave. Time: 1pm – 5pm. Find out more: Do it here.
Thursday, April 28th: Jahzel Dotel’s Leftovers Album Release – Come sway to the smooth Jazz vocals of Jahzel Dotel with the official unveiling of her debut album, Leftovers. With funding for the album coming from the community’s support on Kickstarter, it’s time so enjoy the fruits of generosity and hear it in its entirety. The night will feature special performances from some of her friends, including tap dancing by Natasha Williams, & popular renditions with vocalists Maylin, Envee, all sponsored by Litus Music and Satori Sounds. Enjoy grub from the on-site culinary pop-ups, handmade sips by Mortar & Pistil, and more musical surprises throughout the night.
Where: The Wynwood Yard – 70 NW 29th ST. Time: 7pm – 10pm. RSVP: Do it here.
Friday & Saturday, April 29th & 30th: Nu Deco Ensemble Season One Finale – There’s no denying that Nu Deco Ensemble is one of those musical outlets that constantly remind us why the word “music” is in our name. The 21st-Century orchestra is flawless in all that they do, from modern interpretations of classical pieces, to attacking mainstream music with extreme technical vigor. For their last show of the season, they’ll be unveiling their highly-anticipated Jamiroquai suite which, if their LCD Soundsystem and Daft Punk renditions are a clue, will be incredible. Plus, the night’s special collaboration will be with none other that Raquel Sofia. Don’t miss out, people!
Where: The Lightbox at Goldman Warehouse – 404 NW 26th ST. Time: 8pm. Tickets: Get em here.
