March Events: Where to Find Us
February 29, 2016
Sure, Miami’s nightlife is and seemingly always has been, poppin’. But the gears are starting to shift from heavy bass to flowing conversation, where you aren’t told how to be, but are welcome to be yourself. At the beginning of each month, people ask us what events we have lined up and where. So here’s a list of our events, from those we’re standing behind, to those we’ve conceptualized and will be executing ourselves. See you there!
Thursday, March 3rd: The Job Flea – The idea of a career fair isn’t particularly that inspiring, especially if you’re feeling kind of lost in the “goals” department. But don’t lose hope. Miami’s job market is alive and well and A+E District, The New Tropic, and the Talent Development Network have teamed up to create a Job Flea, an outdoor and personable take on the professional parade. There’ll be employers from nearly every big tech and start-up entity, education, medicine, creative agencies. You name it. Plus, discussions, food, and drinks. Did you know: Our Editor met our Founder at a Job Fair. Just sayin’.
Where: 1440 N Miami Ave. Time: 3PM – 8PM. Tickets: RSVP here.
Friday, March 4th: Nu Deco Ensemble – We may not be coordinating this one, but we’re definitely honored to be a part of the team. Our city’s 21st century orchestra, (and some of the most original cats we know) Nu Deco Ensemble have returned to The Light Box for two nights of incredible performances. The set list not only features some wonderful contemporary classics, including the work of Romaneiro, but they’ll be unveiling their never-before-heard orchestrations of Radiohead. Plus, they’ve invited the insanely talented Project Trio to share the stage with them. If you’re looking for an intellectually stimulating night out, this is it, people!
Where: The Light Box at Goldman Warehouse – 404 NW 26th ST. Time: 8PM. Tickets: Get em here.
Friday, March 4th – Sunday, March 13th: The Miami International Film Festival – Again, no coordination on our part, except for the severe cases of FOMO that will hit us from all the movies we know we can’t catch. Over a hundred movies from every corner of the world will be shown across the city, in theaters both historical and mainstream. Watch masterpieces by local filmmakers, festival favorites, and even award show shoe-ins while mingling with key project creators. There are tons of satellite events too, so make sure to keep your eyes and ears on their full program. If you’re not sure what movies are must-sees, check out the organizers’ top picks here.
Where: Theaters vary, see showtimes. Time: Same. Tickets: Get em here.
Thursday, March 10th: Coffee Shop | Brews & Tunes – Don’t you hate going to live shows only to have the music muffled under the chatter of conversation or blinded by the light of a sea of cellphones? Well, we’ve got you covered. Enjoy a night dedicated to local magic that doesn’t need a filter, except the coffee off course. We have four local coffee roasters who will be pouring samples of their golden liquid and serving their best brews from cold to cafecito. Meanwhile, jam to the tunes of Brendan O’Hara, Jacob Jeffries, Yoli Mayor, and Inez Barlatier. WeWork will be on-site making it feel as homey as possible, just like a real coffee house.
Where: The Wynwood yard – 56 NW 29th ST. Time: 8-11PM. Tickets: RSVP here.
Friday, March 11th: Little Dreams Foundation “Dreaming on the Beach” Gala – The legend known as Phil Collins will be hosting a benefit concert at The Fillmore for a night of musical celebration. The Little Dreams Foundation is geared towards aiding young budding artists and athletes find their way in this dog-eat-dog world. The night will feature performances by DJ Irie, two Voice Sitzerland winners, a lineup of Little Dreamers, internationally renown artists, and of course an unplugged set by the man himself, Phil Collins. Watch dreams unfold before your eyes all culminating with true, realized prowess.
Where: Fillmore Miami Beach – 1800 Washington Ave. Time: 7PM. Tickets: Get em here.
Sunday, March 13th: The Miami Flea – Can you believe it’s already our fifth Flea? We knew the city needed an open-air market where artists and curious eyes could meet in an authentic atmosphere, we just didn’t know how badly. As we continue to find ways to top ourselves, this next Flea is going to be our best one yet. Yeah, we have the usual caravan of vintage and repurposed vendors, handmade jewelry and goods, and a stacked Grub Garden lineup. But our bike valet is back, so is our Bookleggers pop-up, and this time we have Frost Science kids workshops, four powerhouse artists on the A+E Live Stage, and the most vendors we’ve ever had.
Where: 1440 N Miami Ave. Time: 1-5PM. Tickets: RSVP here.
Tuesday, March 22nd: Jupiter Circle Workshop Series – Ever wondered how to ensure you’re making the right social media choices for your brand goals? Saturday, March 26th: SaturDaze Drinking – The last time we did one of these, we were graced with the presence of an incredibly beautiful day. Not just in the weather department but also in the quality of attendees and all-around vibes. This time, we have two show-stopping bands in Krisp and Sigh Kicks, plus some awesome tunes mixed by Klangbox.FM’s very own, Laura (of Miami). It’s going to be one of the best Saturdays of the year filled all the basics: good drinks, a lawn to laze on, and music to fill the air. Plus, you’ll taste all the new culinary pop-ups so you don’t SaturDaze on an empty stomach.
Where: The Wynwood Yard. Time: 1-5PM. Tickets: RSVP here.
Wednesday, March 30th: Rooftop Unplugged Sessions – After we had a brief break from our pool deck jams, we brought back the Rooftop Unplugged Sessions last month with Brika, now they’re continuing with some local spice. Join us as magic washes over the city skyline at The Filling Station Lofts for the second installment of the crowd-favorite concert series: Rooftop Unplugged Sessions! Take in an instimate performance by local soulful songstress and powehouse, Fantine, backed by an acoustic sound. Enjoy handmade sips to drink in the soothing tunes and breathtaking views of the city from the pool deck.
