A Singles Guide to Loving Yourself this Weekend

February 12, 2016admin

Step one on the path to deciding what your solo dolo Valentine’s Day weekend is going to look like, pick a playlist. And yes, I said weekend because luckily for us single folks it falls on a Sunday which means instead of it just taking up a day, it swallows the whole damn weekend. So like I was saying, step one, open up Spotify. Maybe you already have your own personal love song list but if not I suggest browsing the ‘moods’ section. They have gems for you to pick from like, Forever Alone, The Cure for Loneliness, Feeling Myself, Fearless Spirit, or get the motivation for finding your perfect tinder match with Take Me Out. Now that the mood is set, on to step two, plan your freakin’ weekend! We’ve got you covered for whatever your single heart desires, whether you are feeling like strutting your stuff or if you just want to snuggle up at home…all by yourself.

Single and ready to mingle:

>Cupids Undie Run

Strip down and give back. Come in your skivvies and join in a 1.5 mile run to raise money for the Children’s Tumor Foundation. If mingling didn’t present enough potential awkward moments already, why not throw in meeting for the first time in next to nothing (while running). You will really be putting yourself out there with this one, but hey, we will all be in it together. Registration is $55 but it’s all for a good cause. So put yourself out there and feel good about it

Saturday, February 13, 2 p.m. at Mana Wynwood, 2250 NW Second Ave.

>The Love Shack:

Take a step back and revisit the pursuit of love throughout the generations set in this 1930’s house. With fun ways to mingle like the interactive Wolfsonian exhibit, “Feel Me Up, Turn me On.” Where you will grab a partner, put on a blindfold and together try and identify the object by giving it a good rub down. After you’ve found a new boo, head over to the kissing booth to document your new found love, or also enjoy the backyard games going down under the stars. It is free but you must RSVP.

Saturday, February 13, from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. at 1930s House at The Thompson Miami Beach, 4041 Collins Avenue.

For a more low key outing:

>Café @ Books & Books in Coral Gables:

Sift through the store and find a new adventure to get lost in for the weekend. And as the sun goes down head towards the café, which turns into a whimsical space with live music. They also serve up fantastic, locally sourced dishes or just snag a seat and craft cocktail at the bar. Who knows maybe you’ll find a new fried chat up or just get lost in your new boo (ya know, the one in your freshly selected reading material).

Any Time, Hours 9am to 12pm, 265 Aragon Ave, Coral Gables, FL 33134

>Live @ the Yard, Motown Edition:

Shira Lee and Alejandro Elizondo will be serenading you with their takes on some Motown classics. And if you thought no one was going to get you anything for this lovely holiday, you thought wrong. Whole Foods is here to be your valentine and will be serving up whole trade chocolate and roses for the evening. Come treat your self to some good tunes and a mellow evening under the stars. And its free just RSVP.

Saturday, February 13, from 7pm to 11pm, 70 NW 29th St – 70 Northwest 29th Street Miami, FL 33127

But just incase you don’t want to mingle or even see a single love bird this weekend here are some of our favorites for the classic Netflix and chill Valentine’s weekend. Oh, and if you are opting for this you should probably make a pit stop at Firemen Derek’s and get some delicious treats because nothing says I love you (to yourself) better than indulging in a slice of Crack Pie!
