So the first half of July was as sweet as they come, but we know that these next two weeks are bringing come of the strongest cultural programming the city’s seen all year. Event after event, community partners are teaming up to deliver well-rounded getdowns, multi-sensory experiences, and heavy-hitting performers to your favorite spots around Miami.
Grab a coffee, Macha tea, or whatever mood-booster you need to get through the day, and sit down to our latest Cultural Guide. Here’s you social schedule for the next two weeks:
Thursday, July 16th
PAMM Third Thursdays – Enjoy Javier Garcia’s live performance, featuring opening and closing sets by Pirate Stereo from Slap & Tickle and Kid Bougie. Purchase happy hour drink and food specials or make reservations at Verde restaurant, watch Moroccan film Le Mirage at PAMM’s Cinémathèque, and partake in art-making for prizes.

Friday, July 17th
The Pancakes & Booze Art Show – Miami’s largest underground art show comes to the Design District this Friday for a night of local artistry, live body painting, and of course, all-you-can-eat pancakes. There’ll be tons of live performances, a well-stocked bar and sweet specials that even IHOP can’t compete with. Submit your art for display here.

Saturday, July 18th:
Frenzy in The Magic City – Spend a night back in time at a Miami Beach landmark. Remember those unknown musicians called The Beatles? Yeah, they performed there. Presented by Gummdrops and Tropicult, Dopedoll Vintage takes us down memory lane with a happy hour featuring vintage cocktails and light bites, a Pink-Wasabi pop-up, live performance by The Hongs, and DJ sets by Dopedoll Radio & Mr. Jolt.

Sunday, July 19th:
Lazy BrunchBQ – That’s right! The return of one of the Arts + Entertainment District’s chillest events is an ode to local songwriters with performances by Ella Herrera, Emily Sheila, and Brendan O’Hara. Plus, delicious Coyo Taco BBQ, Mad Chiller gelato + sweets, handcrafted cocktails by Airstream Apothecary featuring Deep Eddy and Beck’s Beer specials, and patio games provided by The New Tropic.

Tuesday, July 21st:
The River Of Art Pop-Up Art-in-Public-Places Exhibition and Social Mixer – It’s a long name, for a great cause! It’s an exciting evening of business networking featuring an interesting art show, excellent music, delicious cuisine tastings and refreshing beverages. With complimentary culinary tastings, welcome cocktails by Bahama Breeze, visual artists, and partners like The New Tropic and Bakehouse Art Complex, it’s sure to be quite the tantalizing Tuesday.

Thursday, July 23rd:
Standard Sounds presents Live at Lido – Join The Sandwalkers on this rhythmic journey. Be amazed by the infusion of instruments and music styles combined by the ever relaxing atmosphere of The Standard Spa.
The Sandwalkers is a new musical project founded by Miami-based percussionist/producer Jonathan Marcoschamer and other special guests that blend their talents to create a tribal sound fused with funk, middle eastern and latin influences.

Friday, July 24th:
Hippie Castle EP Release Party – The Magic City Hippies, formerly known as Robby Hunter Band, are releasing their latest EP and we’re throwing them the best jam of the summer to celebrate! We have free beer for the first hour, tasty drink specials by Airstream Apothecary featuring Deep Eddy Vodka and Sailor Jerry Rum, a listening lounge by Silent Revolution MIA, DISfunkshion Magazine’s “chill” nest, live art, food trucks, tons of giveaways, and two sets by the hippies themselves!

Saturday, July 25th:
MOCA Folk Night – The Museum of Contemporary art makes sure that all spheres of expression are covered at the North Miami creative hub. Hosted by WLRN’s Michael Stock, the night will feature a dedication to Americana roots with tunes from Storyteller, Jim Gregory, Florida Folk Singers, Grant Livingston, Valerie C Wisecracker, and Uproot Hootenany with a guest performance by Rainbow Circus at 6PM.

DisFruta – A celebration of the fruits of South Florida featuring local acts: Dr. Flamenco VS Master Feathers, Seizure Machine, DaleDale doing a percussive Latin set, DJ Cloüd and special guests. Bring fruits, plants and seeds for the mandala. Massage therapists available, as well as fruit & juice vendors, CSA sign ups and kombucha elixirs! Live painting by Stacey Nicole Coon.

Sunday, July 26th:
Scratch & Sniff – The Arts + Entertainment District, Scratch Academy and Select Group bring Immortal, Fielo, and Knockers paired with live instrumentals for a collection of beats. Topping off the multi-sensory experience will be the best grub around, including Miami Smokers, The Original Greek, and Sidecar Kitchen. Craft beer line-up by The Box Elder and aromatic drink specials featuring Beck’s Beer, Deep Eddy Vodka and Sailor Jerry Rum crafted up by the Airstream Apothecary.

Tuesday, July 28th:
A Folk’d Up Evening – Hosted by Ryan Carney, the fun continues at Churchill’s pub with a night devoted to the ragtag group of misfits/vagabonds/poets and hidden bedroom geniuses that frequent the open mics in Miami. Representing the genres of music that tend to get overlooked a bit in this city, a collection of folk/folk punk/blues/country/bluegrass/indie songwriters will take the stage for an open mic night with roots.

Wednesday, July 29th:
Terra Live Music Concert – Now this one, you most definitely can’t miss. The incredibly incomparable Julieta Venegas stops in Miami for a night of her most classic hits like “Andar Conmigo”, “Limón y Sal”, “Presente”, songs from her new studio album Algo Sucede, and a slew of sultry interludes. We’ll be in the front row snuggled in tissues.

Thursday, July 30th:
#beCause Thursday with Guitars Over Guns – Every month, Gummdrops and Stache are teaming up with a local charity to spread good music and awareness for a worthy cause. This edition is geared towards Guitars Over Guns who provide opportunities for kids from the most under-served neighborhoods opportunities to play music, especially music they love. Enjoy craft cocktails by Sailor Jerry Rum and live performances by Bobby Lee Rodgers jazz trio, Culture Prophet, and Jay Hero (of Ketchy Shuby), plus food trucks!

2015 Miami New Times Iron Fork – Kick Miami Spice off with the tastiest event around! Over 60 of Miami’s best participating restaurants will be serving their most delicious treats for your mouth-watering pleasure. We’re curating the entertainment for the night featuring: AstroMaps, Aura the Band, DJs from Scratch Academy, live jazz singers and more. Come for the food, stay for the best vibes of the city.

Friday, July 31st:
Yelle (live) – The incredibly adorable french songstress, Yelle, known for hits like: “Completement Fou” and “A Cause Des Garcons” is going to entrance the live carpet at Bardot for an intimate performance that will never be recreated. Not only does she ooze with style and class, but her voice pierces the soul in a way we can’t to hear Bardot’s impeccable sound system bring to life.
