Preview: Frenzy in the Magic City
July 14, 2015
Miami’s history has become synonymous with many things over the years, sunny beaches where new swimsuit designs were unveiled, an influx of Latin culture, shoulder pads and Ray Bans. But what we’ve also proudly taken over is a transgressive musical movement. One where some of the world’s most significant musicians have leant their skills to the local airwaves. Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, The Doors, they’ve all graced stages throughout the city. Let’s not forget those relatively unknowns from Britain whose second American debut on the Ed Sullivan show changed history forever.
Where did The Beatles take the stage? The Deauville Beach Resort, a landmark in its own right who has survived the tide-like rise and fall of the city’s popularity and can still proudly stand tall as a prolific working venue. This Saturday, take a trip down memory lane with Dopedoll Vintage as they present “Frenzy in The Magic City” at the Miami Beach hotel with a display of vintage fashion through the ages from the 50s to the 90s.
The kind souls at Gummdrops, Savory Sinderella, and Tropicult are also throwing down a happy hour from from 4-7PM featuring vintage-inspired cocktails and light bites as the sun goes down. Dj Dopedoll Radio and Mr. Jolt with a live performance by The Hongs presented by Gummdrops plus an interactive pop-up by Pink Wasabi and photography by Rod Deal. The event is 21+ and free with RSVP so do that here.
