Preview: Dance Band Night on 6/11
June 6, 2015
The ongoing love affair between sound and movement is never-ending. The moment a beat snuggles its way into your eardrums, your feet know to instantly react. Maybe a hip will sway, or a finger will tap, but either way your body’s involved whole-heartedly. In a city as rooted in music as its auditory revelations, Miami’s Rhythm Foundation has brought about a new event series that showcases just how good music and dancing is for the soul: Dance Band Night.
One part dance lesson, one part outdoor concert. The North Beach Bandshell will be transformed into an interactive experience for every level of dancer and musiclover alike on Thursday, June 11th from 7-10PM for their second installment of Dance Band Night. Their debut was a bit Gypsy Jazz heavy with Swing dancing to pair with the local stylings of The French Horn. But they return with something a little spicier as the veteran Latin all-stars of Conjunto Impacto will set the stage ablaze with their 15-piece ensemble.
But Conjunto’s music won’t be the only thing keeping your body moving. For the first hour, enjoy an in-depth Salsa lesson from the masters at King’s Dance Company and learn some new moves or dust off that rust. The best thing about the event? It’s entirely free and family-friendly. Which only makes you want to donate to such creative cultural initiatives even more!
